// Use cases

Built for the stage you're in.

Whether you're launching a first product or scaling an existing one, the engagement is scoped to your real situation.

Non-technical Founders

Launch your first product.

You have a clear vision and early signal but no technical co-founder. Work directly with a senior engineer to turn your idea into a real, launched product.

SaaS Teams

Ship roadmap items faster.

Your team is busy keeping the lights on while the roadmap piles up. Reserve a continuous senior engineering lane focused on shipping the next thing.

Growing Software Companies

Extend your engineering capacity without another hire.

Adding a full-time senior engineer is slow and expensive. Get senior product engineering capacity on a monthly subscription — no recruiting, no ramp.

// Stack

Sharp tools.
Boring choices.

Battle-tested defaults so your product doesn't become a science project. Every choice optimizes for shipping and staying easy to hire around later.

// MVP scope

An MVP is a focused first version of your product. The goal is validating your business — not building every feature you will eventually need. Large marketplaces, enterprise systems, and highly complex platforms are delivered over multiple phases.

// Milestones

Large features are delivered incrementally.

Large requests are divided into smaller milestones that ship one after the next. Delivery times apply to milestones — not entire projects.

// FAQ

Questions, answered.

The practical stuff founders and product teams usually want to know before booking a call.

You pay a flat monthly rate for continuous senior engineering capacity. There are no hourly timesheets and no surprise invoices. Continuous and Priority Development can be paused or canceled monthly.

One active milestone is a single piece of work in flight at a time — for example, a feature, an integration, or a bug investigation. Larger features are broken into smaller incremental milestones that ship one after the next.

Continuous Development targets a 3–5 business day delivery cycle per milestone. Priority Development provides faster delivery cycles and reserved scheduling, typically 1–3 business days per milestone.

Output depends on request complexity. Smaller milestones may be completed quickly. Larger features are broken into incremental deliverables. The subscription reserves a continuous engineering lane — not a fixed number of hours.

Yes. Focused SaaS and mobile MVPs are delivered through the MVP Launch engagement. After launch, most clients transition into Continuous Development.

24/7 support, emergency response, daily standups, large undefined enterprise projects, fixed-date guarantees, and unlimited engineering are not part of the subscription.

That's normal. Part of onboarding is translating your goals into scoped milestones in Linear. You don't need to hand over a perfect PRD.

Yes. Blackhawk Software is a solo studio. You talk to Shane, the code is written by Shane, and the updates come from Shane.

You own the code, the designs, and the infrastructure. Everything is built in your repos and accounts, so you can hand it off or scale the team anytime.
